Building on Faith
Our 2017 Building on Faith campaign is a great opportunity for the faith-based community to get involved in helping another deserving family achieve their dream of home ownership through a hand up instead of a hand out.
This year, Jenni and her eleven-year-old son Colton will be the Building on Faith recipients. In the summer of 2012, Jenni escaped an abusive marriage with her son and had no place to go. They found refuge in a homeless shelter and then made their way through Cooperative Christian Ministry’s housing programs. In 2016, Jenni entered the Habitat Cabarrus homeownership program and has been a tremendous asset. Jenni is extremely reliable and loves helping others. She and Colton are excited about their new home because “as a homeowner I will finally reach the stability I’ve worked for since I left my abusive ex-husband,” Jenni says. “My son is truly proud of both of us. He cannot wait for our new home.” Construction on this new home is scheduled to begin later this month in Magnolia Crossing.
The goal of the Building on Faith Campaign is to raise $40,000 from the faith based community. We are also seeking to utilize volunteers from partnering churches to assist with building Jenni Lee and Colton’s new home. First Presbyterian Concord is kicking off the campaign with a substantial donation and we are asking other churches to partner with us on this project! With your help, we are confident that we can achieve our goal and look forward to your support!
